Retrospectiva 2025 – Un an al construcției: Brașov, România și Europa în aceeași direcție

2025 was the year in which we proved, through actions, that Brașov and Romania can sit at Europe's table as credible partners, not just as guests. It was the year of reconfirming the direction I have taken, that of showing that we can be competitive in economy and tourism, coherent in mobility, and visible in diplomacy.

I experienced this year between local and national administrations, the diplomatic environment, chambers of commerce, companies, young people, and professionals connected by the idea that modern development is born from collaboration, vision, continuity, and perseverance.

Although 2025 was not only about beautiful moments, the challenges made me stay positive, hard-working, and solution-oriented. I dedicated my energy exclusively to constructive projects and people who earned my trust and proved they truly want to move things forward. I believe the future belongs to those who choose to invest in work and hope and maintain a positive and constructive mindset.

Throughout the year, I focused on three important directions.

📌 Economic and Tourism Development

In 2025, we continued repositioning Brașov and Transylvania as a valuable destination on the European map. The appearance of Brașov in National Geographic – Best of the World 2025, the promotion of Transylvanian gastronomy alongside Robert Makłowicz for the Polish market, the promotion of the region through international Wizz Air influencers, and the tourism presentation events at the Romanian Embassies in Berlin and Vienna and at the Consulate General in Munich—where the magazine “Urlaub in Rumänien” was an essential support—contributed to rebuilding Romania's image not only before the Germanic public.

Tourism is not entertainment, but a strategic economic sector, an instrument of public diplomacy, and a motor for community development when managed with professionalism and continuity.

📌 Urban and Electric Mobility

A defining moment of the year was the Smart Airport Cities conference in Ghimbav, when the first electric plane landed in Romania at the Brașov Ghimbav International Airport—a premiere for sustainable Romanian aviation.

2025 also meant promoting electric mobility through the five Transylvania eClassic races, organized to show that electric mobility, technology, and tourism can coexist harmoniously: “a race like a holiday” was not just a slogan, but a practical demonstration.

The future of mobility cannot be fragmented: road, air, energy, and educational infrastructure are interdependent. Mobility is not a sector, but an ecosystem, and progress requires institutional courage and continuity.

📌 Economic Diplomacy and Cooperation in the Germanic and European Space

2025 was the year of deep reconnection with Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Economic events with tastings of special Romanian wines in Frankfurt and Munich, tourism promotion in Berlin, dialogues in Vienna, solid contacts in Switzerland, and applied discussions in Stuttgart, Pforzheim, and the beautiful Coburg in Bavaria strengthened the European collaboration network.

An important moment was the opening towards the Republic of Moldova. Alongside European partners and friends, we contributed to the establishment of the Smart Cities of Moldova Association, a strategic step that creates a professional bridge between Europe, Romania, and the Republic of Moldova, in which Brașov, through the Smart City Brașov Association, plays a central role. It is the beginning of a collaboration with potential for smart urban development, European integration, and know-how transfer.

Also in 2025, the remarkable Romanian-French partnership in Brașov was consolidated through collaboration with the French Consular Agency and the Alliance Française. These two institutions have become pillars of collaboration and refinement in the local diplomatic dynamic, organizing cultural, educational, and economic events that raised the bar for quality and demonstrated that Brașov can be a respected Francophone pole in Romania. It is a model of institutional elegance and an essential contribution to the city's European opening.

A heartfelt moment of this year remains my contribution to the success of Romania's National Day in Nuremberg, Brașov's twin city, held in the city hall. This high-class event, organized by the Consulate General of Romania in Munich, proved once again that public-private collaborations can become instruments of real development.

Throughout the year, I had an excellent collaboration with the chambers of commerce AHK Romania 🇩🇪, CCE-R 🇨🇭, Advantage Austria Romania 🇦🇹, and BEROCC 🇧🇪, being frequently invited as a moderator and speaker on economic, tourism, and mobility topics. I had the opportunity to meet many extraordinary people and form new collaborations and friendships that generated valuable and measurable project ideas for 2026.

I look toward 2026 with the conviction that the foundation is extremely solid. Next comes the acceleration phase: connecting Brașov and Romania with European markets through new direct air routes, consolidating electric aviation through a major project that will put Romania on the global innovation map, expanding collaborations with Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Poland, and the Republic of Moldova, and transforming tourism into a predictable economic engine.

I thank all those who were by my side in 2025 and contributed to making this year extremely beautiful, full of inspiration, results, and memorable moments. No achievement is individual; success belongs to solid collaborations and partnerships, and of course, to those who believe and walk together in the same direction.

I believe 2026 must be the year in which good ideas no longer remain at the discussion level but transform into results. If you share the same vision, I invite you to connect and build together projects with real impact for Brașov, for Romania, and for Europe.

Together we move Romania 🇷🇴, together we connect Europe 🇪🇺, together we are strong.
